Every guide and article on Debatery is written by the Debatery Editing Team to the same standards, so readers can trust what they read and check it for themselves.
Both sides, fairly
Guides set out the strongest case for each side, side by side, and the site takes no position. We aim to state each argument the way its best supporters would, and we use neutral wording in questions and headings.
Sources for every claim
- Each guide lists 20 or more sources, credited to their publishers, at the end of the page.
- We prefer primary and reliable sources: official statistics, court rulings, peer-reviewed research, international organizations and established news outlets.
- Figures, dates, names and quotes are written to match their source.
A fact check before publishing
Before a page goes live, every source link is opened to confirm it works and still says what we cite, and the numbers, dates, names and quotes in the introduction, case studies and arguments are checked against their sources. A claim that can't be confirmed is cut. A page that needs too many fixes is held back and rewritten.
Photos
Photos show the topic, person or event they illustrate, and each one is credited on our photo credits page with its creator and license.
Corrections
If you find an error, email [email protected] with the page and what is wrong. We check every report and correct confirmed errors on the page.
Independence
Debatery is free, with no ads, sponsors or paid features, so no one pays to shape what we publish.
