Debatery is a free site for students and teachers. We collect as little as possible.
What we don't do
- No accounts or sign-up. You never give us your name or email to use the site.
- No ads, no advertising trackers and no selling of data.
- No tracking cookies.
What happens when you visit
- Hosting. The site is hosted by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes your IP address to deliver pages and protect the site from attacks, and gives us visit counts (such as pages viewed and country) that don't identify you.
- Fonts. Pages load their fonts from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google to download them.
- Saved on your device. The timer, games and some tools remember settings and scores in your browser's local storage. This stays on your device, and you can clear it in your browser settings at any time.
- Guide requests and votes. When you request or vote for a guide, we store the request text and a one-way code made from your IP address and the date, so each person votes once a day. We can't turn that code back into your IP address, and we don't store names or emails.
- Email. If you email us, we use your message and address only to read and answer it.
Children
Debatery is made for students, including those under 13. We don't ask for or knowingly collect personal information from anyone. If you think a child has sent us personal information, email [email protected] and we will delete it.
